Robert Slavin

Class of 1938

I don't know the exact date Bob Slavin graduated from Mayfield, but it was in the 1930's. Bob died last week at age 95,

Bob and his three brothers (George, Stanley, and Ken) all graduated from Mayfield., Ken is the last remaining of the Slavin family - turning age 93 this month.
Bob died at the military hospital in San Francisco called Presidio. He needed treatment for war wounds he suffered in the Aleutian Islands - compliments of a bayonet wound administered by a Japanese invader.
Bob lived in California and Colorado most of his life - with his profession skill being focused on the field of real estate.
Bob changed his family name from Slavin to Christensen - his biological father's original family name. He was buried, with full military honors, in San Francisco.
Bob's widow - Serena visited him daily while he was hospitalized for over three years. Locally, he is survived by brothers Tom and Dale Slavin - son's of Bob's brother Stanley.
While at Mayfield Bob played varsity basketball. During the course of his last visit to Cleveland Bob enjoyed a visit to his old high school.
