Mike passed away while serving in the U.S. Army in Livorno, Italy. He was driving home after his night shift and was hit head-on by a DUI driver and a passenger. No one survived the accident. Mike left behind his wife, Cindy who was 8 months pregnant. Three weeks later his son was born. Mike is buried at the Fort Bragg, NC Military Cemetery.
