| About Me | I recently relocated to the Bay Area to work as a Postdoctoral Design Research Fellow and Educational Research Specialist at the Nokia Research Center (NRC) in Palo Alto and Sunnyvale. While at the NRC, I worked on several digital media projects with third-party content providers including Sesame Street Workshop and the Joan Ganz Cooney Center. I obtained my PhD from the Learning Science and Human Development program in the College of Education at the University of Washington (UW). While at the UW, I spent five years as a Graduate Research Assistant for the NSF-funded Learning in Informal and Formal Environments (LIFE) Center, where I studied how children learn from digital media in various contexts of their lives. I also worked with the UW Teacher Education Program (TEP), where I developed and taught arts- and technology-based courses, as well as organized and implemented seminars to help onboard first-year teachers using various induction supports. I previously worked as an Emmy award-winning associate producer and production assistant at Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA), the PBS station in Oklahoma City. I have also produced a number of award-winning documentaries describing the experiences of survivors of domestic violence, Mi'kmaq First Nation victims of toxic chemical spills, and the unique lives of amateur treasure hunters.
