| About Me | After H.S. I attended UVA and graduated in 1991. While at UVA I engaged in the typical college activities of playing varsity football for four years and driving a bus part-time for the campus bus service while double majoring in history and foreign affairs. Since I was not ready to get a real job after graduation and knowing I could always fall back on bus driving, I attended law school at the College of William & Mary from 1991-1994. In my last year of law school, I earned my reputation as the "Gerald Ford" of my class as I rose from the position of Vice-President of the law school to President when my predecessor was kicked out of school for falsifying his financial aid application. Luckily I survived my term in office by pandering to the school's newspaper and spreading largess to the various student groups. Following law school, I worked for a year at a very large law firm in Richmond where my job duties seemed to consist of spending 60 hours a week in an office poring over ancient runes which purported to be land records. Not satisfied with the fame and fortune which this career path offered, I moved to Wheeling, West Virginia in 1995 and began work as a trial attorney for a small firm in a small town. I should mention that my wife, Betsy, is from the Wheeling area and was an attorney at the same firm I joined in Wheeling. We were married in 1995 and now have 3 girls (Abbey-8, Emma-6 and Merritt-2). Abbey is very smart (I think she takes after me); Emma is very tall, standing usually at least six inches taller than any kid in her class for the last 3 years, and Merritt is a handful. Asides from keeping busy with the acitivities of 3 young girls, I serve as President and Commissioner of our local youth baseball/softball league and as Grand Exalted Ruler of the local Elks lodge. I also coach girls softball and soccer; I have not yet lost a game, but I have also not coached a game where an "official" score is kept. I may have to quit while I am ahead. While working as a partner in my law firm, I am also one of the two Municipal Court Judges for the City of Wheeling, which sounds more impressive than it actually is -- think part-time traffic court judge, but I warn you do not get a speedin...(read more) |
