| About | Leslie Hugh Miller Sr., 86, of Virginia Beach, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2026. He was born in Norfolk, VA, to the late Curtis Hugh Miller and Maretta Florence Carawan Miller. He graduated from Maury High School in 1958, where he was a two-sport athletic star, and was named the Outstanding High School Baseball Player of the Year for the city of Norfolk that same year. He was a dedicated member of both the Shriners and the Masons, receiving pins honoring 50 years of service in each organization. He was a major contributor to the Indian River Little League recreational sports association, serving as a referee and umpire, and coaching both baseball and football to help teach the youth of Chesapeake sportsmanship and life values. In 1979, he became a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities, was known for his warm welcome and persistent smile, and was remembered by church members for bringing joy to so many people. He loved spending time at the Miller beach house on the Outer Banks with family and friends, and he cherished time with his family more than anything else. He was a lifelong New York Yankees and Washington Redskins fan, and he loved attending Virginia Tech football and Old Dominion University basketball games. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 68 years, Ann Ridgwell Miller; his three children, Leslie Miller Jr. and wife Jennifer, Lorri Abdolahzadeh and husband Hamid, and David Miller and wife Betsy; eight grandchildren, Leslie Miller III and wife Jessica, Alex Jeffries and husband Mason, William Miller and husband Patrick, Matthew Miller and wife Jane, Andrew Miller and wife Adrienne, Sarah Harder and husband Joel, Samantha Abdolahzadeh and Rachel Miller; and nine great-grandchildren, Jackson, Madden, Margo, Sage, Gianna, Laken, Rory, Emery, and Thomas. |
