About He is on the Vietnam Wall....KIA....I saw it my self in 2005 when it was brought to Minnesota.
Arie Toole, we attended the same schools. Russel H. Conwell and Mastbaum. RIP Dean.

My childhood friend from Kensington, Dean Wiegand,,paid the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Dean, a 6'7" gentle giant was a phenomenal basketball player. He taught me everything I knew about basketball and it did not matter that I was 5'4" and female, just that we shared a love of the game. He graduated from Mastbaum AVTS with a basketball scholarship to Temple but took a semester off because of a bad ankle injury. During that time, he was drafted and the rest is history. It made the Vietnam War very personal for me.
RIP, Dean, you are not forgotten!
He is buried in Beverly National Cemetery.
