| About Me | I've been married to my high school sweetheart, Denis Michael Dagger, for 46 years now. We were married on May 6th, 1972. We have two grown children, Denis Jr. & Andrea. We have 3 grand-children, Madeline, William & Annabel and 2 step-grand-children, Valerie & Karl. We are mom & dad to 3 fur-babies, Miss YaYa, Dagger DogVinci (the famous Painting Dog) and Tommy TuTu. My husband, Denis, is Owner & Vice President of Smithtown Toyota. I'm a fine artist specializing in Pet Portraiture. Lately my life has evolved into the mom of a world renowned famous painting dog named Dagger. The journey has taken us to appearances on all TV stations world wide. We are currently being filmed for a PBS special to air in the fall of 2018 called "Shelter Me." Dagger has been coined as the "Do Good Dog" and has painted over 400 works of art and donated over $35,000.00 to various people & animal related charities. I'm a Long Island native. I've always been driven by my own undeniable creativity and insatiable curiosity. However, it wasn’t until after my children were raised that I decided to follow my life long dream of becoming a professional artist. While pursuing my degree in Fine Arts at Hofstra University, I rediscovered my passion for painting. Shortly thereafter, I had my first solo show and later that year won the prestigious Art of the Northeast—Prudential Wheeler Award. I'm a Golden Key Honor Society Award Winner & Member. My oil and acrylic paintings & drawings can be found in many personal collections nationally. I've shown in numerous venues all over the northeast including: Hecksher Museum in Huntington, NY; Nadejda Gallery in Newport, Rhode Island; Michael Perez Gallery in Great Neck, NY; Silvermine Museum in New Canaan, CT; Guild Hall Gallery in East Hampton, NY; Chrysalis Gallery in Southhampton, NY; The Pen and Brush Gallery in NYC and The Blue Door Gallery, Riverhead, Fitzgerald Gallery, West Hampton Beach and Think Long Island First Gallery in Oyster Bay, NY. My success in the art world has helped me gain local and national exposure. “Hope” an oil on canvas painting was showcased on a CD-ROM used for The Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Center on Long Island. “Ellen Squared,” a multi-media work was featured on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”. My painting “Gridlocked” was shown and used for a children’s activity book at Hecksher Museum in Huntington, NY. In addition, “Scion tC,” an acrylic on canvas piece can be seen hanging in Toyota Headquarters in Torrence, California. To add to my success, Dan’s Papers has used my paintings for nine of their covers. I was voted Best Long Island Artist / Gold 2012, 2013 , 2014 & 2015 & 2017 by Dan’s Papers. In addition, The Long Island Press voted me best Artist for 2013. Currently, Martha Stewart is showcasing my Shelter Pet Paintings on her Pet Program Web site: http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/shelter-pet-paintings Marion Woldberg Weiss wrote, “Dagger’s empathy, no matter what the subject matter may be, is essential to her work and worldview…her interest in shelter animals, particularly, goes way beyond the painting process.” Inducted into the Massapequa HS Hall of Fame in 2011 for my Artistic & Community achievements, I continue to follow my passions every day. In addition to my passion for the arts, I've been a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence, the Chairperson for their Signature DogFest and is a member of their Northeast Regional Board of Directors. I was named “Woman of the Year 2013” by the Town of Oyster Bay and by Nassau County, respectively. To me life is what you make it…Make yours a good one!!!
