I joined the Navy in October of 1965 and was sent to Hawaii to serve on a Destroyer Radar Picket Ship. In 1966 I attended Hospital Corpsman school and after graduation I was stationed with th 2nd Battalion.3rd Marine Division in Vietnam. I stepped on a land mine on February 28,1967 and lost both legs above the knee. After rehabilitation I worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 43 years until I retired in January of 2012.
