| About Me | After graduate school, I worked as a school psychologist for 13 years in various places, such as San Antonio, Portugal (i.e., Lajes AB in the Azores), and more recently on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I made the move to Alaska with my wife, Pat, last February. So, boogie boarding and warm water sports have been replaced by fly fishing and skiing. My wife and I bought a house in Eagle River, AK, which is just outside of Anchorage. Our backyard is the Eagle River greenbelt and nature preserve. We have moose, brown bears and black bears as neighbors. I work as an education specialist with the Special Education Service Agency (SESA) of Alaska and provide consultation and training to special education teams servicing students with emotional disturbance, autism and other low incidence disabilities. Typically, I fly out of Anchorage on a bush plane every other week to an Alaskan native village. I stay at a site for two to four days and sometimes serve multiple sites while traveling in an area of Alaska. Some communities are medium size for Alaska, such as Sitka.
