Navy, 20+ Years
Retired as a Senior Chief (E-8), qualified in Submarines. Served on 4 different subs including the commissioning crew of a Trident Ohio class SSBN Georgia,SSBN 729. An older SSBN Stonewall Jackson, SSBN 634, and two fast attacks Tunny SSN 682 and Atlanta SSN 712 Stationed at the Trident Repair Facility in Bangor Wa. and tough Basic Submarine School in Groton Ct. Served in both oceans and visited counties all over the world. Wish I could tell every body were we went, but Submarines operations are classified Top Secret.

CHOOSEN AS ONE OF SEVEN CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS TO ASSIST IN THE DESIGN, BUILDING AND SET UP OF TRAINING FACILITY FOR NON-NUC TRAINED PERSONEL FOR THE SEAWOLF CLASS SUBMARINE. QUALIFIED AS CHIEF OF THE WATCH, SHIPS DIVING OFFICER AND CONTACT CORDNATOR AT SEA AND DUTY CHIEF IN PORT, ALSO COMPLETED QUALIFICATION FOR CHIEF OF THE BOAT. WAS WAITING FOR INTERVIEW WITH COMMANDER U.S. SUBMARINE FORCE WHEN I WAS HAD AN ACCIDENT WERE I LOST THE SIGHT IN MY RIGHT EYE AND WAS FORCED TO RETIRE.

AFTER COMPLETION OF MASTER DIESEL MECH SCHOOL I WENT TO THE REPAIR FACILITY AT BANGO WA.(80-82). IN 83 VOLENTREE FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION ON A TRIDENT SUB. RETURNED TO GROTON IN LATE 92 AS AN INSTRUCTOR AT THE NAVAL SUBMARINE SCHOOL. THERE I WAS SELECTED WITH SEVEN OTHER CHIEFS TO ASSIST IN THE SET UP OF A NEW TRAINING FACILITY FOR NON-NUC PERSONNEL ON BOARD THE NEW SEAWOLF CLASS SUBMARINE. I spent five years in the U.S. Army (1992 - 1997) as a 46Q, Journalist, after attending Defense Information School (DINFOS http://www.dinfos.dma.mil/ ) at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. Previous to that, I attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC. I was 29 years old when I enlisted. In 1993, at Fort Benning, GA, I attended Primary Leadership Development Course and was the Honor Graduate,. Shortly after that, I became a non-commissioned officer, all within 18 months of enlisting.

Now living in El Paso, Texas, after having retired as a Police Officer for nineteen years. Will be heading back to Ohio very soon.
