| About Me | Fortunately my years since high school have been very rewarding to me. In 1962 I met a wonderful girl from Albion, Brenda Sims. Brenda and I were married in June of 1963. Same month Brenda graduated from Albion H.S. At this same time in the spring of 1963 I opened my own A&W Drive in restaraunt in Lakeview on Columbia Ave. Purchased this facility in 1964 and added a second location, the A&W in Marshall, in 1967. Left the A&W business to go into the Real Estate business with Weller Realty and Weller Built Homes in B.C. Loved selling new homes and existing real estate until the interest rates sky rocketed in 1968-69. Had a family with three small children at the time and was forced to leave the real estate business. The high interest rates resulted in me losing several sales due to folks no longer quailifying for the home we had sold them! At this point I joined an up and coming company headquartered in Marshall by the name of Kevco, Inc. This company was started by a home town boy, Jerry Kimmel and his partner Bill Everett. After serving as a sales rep. traveling the states of Ohio, Kentucy and Tennesse for nine months I was promoted to General Mgr. of Kevco's Marshall sales office and warehouse/distribution facility. We relocated this branch to Elkhart, Indiana in 1970. Moved my family to Goshen, Indiana where we lived until 1974 when I took a management position with a large Recreational Vehicle Manufacture, Fleetwood Enterprises of Riverside, Ca. Remained with Fleetwood in various Sales Management positions for 16 yrs. I reitired in 1990. I continued to work in sales/management positions in the RV Industry until 1995 when I re-entered the Real Estate business in Crawfordsville, Indiana. My wife, Brenda, and I formed one of the first Husband & Wife realty Teams in Indiana. We built a successful realty business under the unbrella of the Re/Max franchise. Continued building our real estate business in Crawfordsville for five yrs. (until 2000) when Brenda & I decided to go to Indianapolis to sell new homes for new home buider communities. Brenda to this day sells new homes in Indianapolis. I have spent most of the years since 2000 in the real estate business. I am now moving into the Mortgage business as a Loan Officer for a company one of my sons has started in Indy. All our children are busy raising our wonderful grand kids. Brenda and I plan to retire, retire in about 5-6yrs. Have thought we might want to move back home to Marshall for our retirement years. Would love to be able to have a cup of coffee with many of our old ...(read more) |
