My family and I served 35 years on active duty. I enlisted in 1969 as a Combat Engineer, graduated from Infantry Officer Candidate School in late 1970 and was commissioned an Armor Officer. Later I branch transfer to the Quartermaster Corps as I thought I could make a greater contribution to the readiness of our Army as a logistician. My family and I served 16 years overseas with the last nine being consecutive. In 2005 I departed active duty as a Major General.
