Tamara (Weeks) Bove
Class of 1986
Marine Corps, 3 Years
Military Police/Corrections Officer
I was (along with one other Woman Marine) the first Woman Marine to work as a corrections officer at the Base Brig at Camp Leguene, N.C.
My job was to oversee prisoners in the Mess hall
(cafeteria). After all meals were finished I had to do silverware count to make sure none of the prisoners ran off with any. When the count came up short, we had to conduct a complete search of the Brig. I also worked up in the tower, the truck/vehicle entrance, the recess yard, the main entrance and other places related to the job. It was an experience I am forever proud of. Thank you to all who have served our country. May all Veterans never be forgotten. Semper Fi !!!
