| About | Thomas Charles Jamieson 12/13/1943 - 10/21/2017 In the early morning hours of Oct. 21, Tom left his earthly home and the arms of his Wife, best Friend & eternal soul mate to join his Son and many other loved ones in his new forever home in Heaven. Tom proudly served in the US Air Force from 1963-1967. He followed his service with a long career at Bell Technologies in Orlando Fl.. Tom lived a life of joy and adventure. Everyone he met would immediately be drawn to his kind, loving & warm funny personality. He NEVER met a stranger. He was always the life of the party & never hesitated to be the first on the dance floor. In his younger years, he enjoyed sailing and made many joyful trips from Florida to the Bahamas on his sail boat Vela. He also loved deep sea fishing. Tom was a die hard Packers fan, had season tickets when he lived in IL., and had a blast going back to a opening game in 2013. Tom was a avid golfer and even after losing most of his vision, he continued to golf as often as he could. Tom was a huge Nascar fan and loved sharing the story of how he once crashed a Hendricks Motor Sports Christmas party. Tom loved to bet the horse and dog races. He spent many Saturdays with his beloved Son at the Daytona track and after moving to VA. , many Saturdays with his Wife at the Vinton OTB. Tom LOVED playing roulette. He could sit at that wheel for hours and hours, or until he ran out of money. He would have the whole table hollering for his 0/00 to come up! Being around Tom just brought out joy & laughter in everyone he met. Tom's favorite breakfast was a beer and a banana. When out to dinner he would always tell the server, his first manhattan "tasted like another". He didn't sweat the little things and always found a bright side even during the darkest of times. He was always a 'true Gentleman". Quick to offer a hand, jacket or anything else to meet someones needs. His quick wit and humor that drew so many to him remained through the last day of his life. He was a sharp dresser, always donning crisp shirts and sharp creases, even in his jeans. He had a passion for art work and loved going to resale shops and auctions. He had a love of polar bears, covered bridges, unique statues and so much more. Tom had a talent for decorating and loved finding the perfect spot for his special finds. Most importantly, Tom loved the Lord and wholeheartedly trusted in God's plan for him. Tom was a member of Crosspointe Church and had recommitted his life to Jesus and chose to be baptized in the lake on 9/21/14. Tom and his Family are eternally grateful for the support and guidance from Pastors Mark Griffith and Dr. Stan Parris on this journey. Someone had asked Tom what would he say when he got to the pearly gates and was asked "what he did to deserve getting into Heaven", his answer was, "I was hoping you weren't going to ask me that"! There is no doubt, Heaven has a new comedian! Tom was predeceased by his Son, Bill Jamieson, his Parents , Robert Charles Jamieson and Gladys Thompson. Tom leaves behind countless Friends who were true Family to him. Also his Wife, Edna Jamieson, his Sister & Brother in Law - Beth & Dave Nelson, Neices - Connie Giblin & Teresa Buehler, Grand Daughters - Briana & Jennifer Jamieson, Daughter in Law- Tammy Jamieson and his Son's Mom and Tom's forever Friend, Peg Jamieson. Tom and his family are eternally grateful for the most amazing compassionate care given by the Salem VA Hospital, especially the Home Based Care Team. Leigh Wingo NP, Dr. Julia Ewen , RN Susan Williams and Dr. Mark Jones were amazing! These folks moved mountains to help Tom have the best final days. The care and concern was genuine and we couldn't have wished for better. This team truly were Tom's "angels on earth". Tom also was blessed to have Lyn, Donna & Sandy from Medi Hospice this last week. A celebration of Tom's amazing and full life, will be held at a near future date.
