About Me	While in college, I did an independent study program with the US Air Force at the Pentagon. After undergrad, I lived and worked in Aspen, CO for a ski season then moved to Washington, DC where I worked on the Hill. First for the US Senate, then the US House of Representatives. I have been with the US Agency for International Development for over 27 years. Based in Washington, DC, I have had assignments throughout the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe. In 1975, I never imagined that I would someday be shelled in Baghdad. I share a home in Arlington, Virginia with Jean Hacken, my partner of 20 years, and our dog, Ms. Garbo.
