About Me I started my legal career in 1985 as a legal secretary at the Law Offices of David Shuman in Los Angeles and went on to become a legal assistant at the Law Offices of Ronald Anderson. I graduated from Kelsey- Jenney Business College in July of 1993, with an AA/degree in Paralegal Studies. I am currently working on my BA in Criminal Justice and my Leadership Certificate at Southwestern Community College. I have dedicated my life in service to the community. I have worked for San Diego Superior Court since 1994 in various capacities. While attending school to become a Paralegal I was hired as a student worker. I currently hold the position of Courtroom Clerk II for the Honorable Lisa Foster in the Central Division of the San Diego Superior Court. I sat on the 2000 negotiating team for the San Diego County Court Employees Association and shortly thereafter joined the board. I was elected President in 2005, during those first aggressive years we became an agency shop and a union for all employees. We moved into our new office and began to strengthen our organization with orientation sessions, annual meetings and open houses. For the first time we negotiated release time to orient new employees. With a supportive membership base we turned our attention outward and formed a coalition with court labor organizations in Orange County, Riverside and San Bernardino. Our objective was to build strong relationships and to assist each other with information and support. We also hired a lobbyist to represent our interests in Sacramento. Together we worked on the membership’s behalf to support legislation that benefits our members and fought legislation that negatively impacts you and other court public employees. In my tenure with the San Diego County Court Employees Association, I continue to work vigorously on the many issues that plagued employees in our bargaining units. I have become the voice of many employees. I have helped lead San Diego County Court Employees into a new era of change. I sat on the negotiating team, the executive team and have spoke in public forums before the Senate Judiciary Committee and other groups on behalf of the membership. I have lobbied in Sacramento on behalf of the membership and other public employees in favor for legislation that benefits workers and fought legislation that negatively impacted the membership and other public employees. Through these endeavors, I now have the knowledge, skills and experience needed to be voice of both Court employees and members of the San Diego Paralegal Association. My experience with San Diego County Court Employees Association as an advocate, representative, lobbyist, officer and director has prepared me for the challenges that we face in the future. My greatest strength comes from my commitment to my family, friends and coworkers at the Court. I have been the Court Liaison for the San Diego Paralegal Association my goal was to foster and promote relationships between the Paralegal Community and the Court/Judicial System. Additionally, I have provided San Diego Paralegal Association members with current changes within the Court system that affect their daily job as a Paralegal. My intent was to the bridge the gap between the Paralegal Profession and the Court/Judicial system. I have spoken before San Diego Paralegal Associations Student Commission, Paralegal Students at Southwestern College and at the California Alliance of Paralegal Associations 3...(read more)
