Sylvester Chapman Sr., 51, died unexpectedly Friday, February 4, 2000, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital. Sylvester Chapman Sr. was born June 4, 1948 in Columbus, Mississippi to the late Tom and Lillie Chapman. He resided in Mansfield, Ohio most of his life. He accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Herman Baptist Church. He would later join Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Sylvester graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1967. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Sharon Roane on March 2, 1968 and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. Sylvester worked at White Consolidated Industries for 22 years where he built many life-long friendships. Most recently, he worked at Philips Metals, Inc. In his spare time, Sylvester enjoyed gardening and photography. He was also a member of the Most Worshipful Eureka Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Ancient York Masons, Saint Joseph Lodge No. 6. He leaves to mourn a devoted wife; Sharon; one daughter Latonia; two sons Darrin (Nancy) and Sylvester Jr. (Lisa); two granddaughters, Tionna and Alexis; three grandsons , Akeem, Dominique, and Devantre; sister, Barbara Manns (Fred Sr.) and a host of relatives and friends.
