About From 'Find A Grave': George Richard (Chambers) Payne, 63 of Crestline, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at his residence after a yearlong battle with cancer. George was born in Columbus on June 7, 1948 to the late George Richard and Mignon Chambers, Sr. He married Gerri Lynn Payne on April 18, 2003 and she survives him. They have been together for 24 years and had an Alice and Wonderland wedding ceremony. He was employed by Crawford Machine as an Electrical Engineer for 21 years and was a member of Woodville Grace Brethren Church in Mansfield. George was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed computers and his Harley Davidson motorcycle. George was very involved in his work and enjoyed his co-workers. He was crazy, compassionate, and wonderful. He is survived by two Godchildren, Zachary Scott (Tatiana) Zolman of Ft. Bragg, NC and Whitney Dawn (Phil Smith) Zolman of Galion; grandchildren Aiden Zolman and Zachary Scott Zolman II; two stepchildren, Cathy Clark of Michigan, and Patti Britt of Colorado; step grandchildren, Alexis, David, Jacob, Joey Chung, Trissie and Teddy Britt; brothers and sisters, Robert Chambers, John Chambers, Michelle Chambers, Debra Chambers; mother-in-law, Wanda (William) Swick of Bucyrus, father-in-law, Kenneth (Linda) Payne of Bellville; sisters-in-law, Terrie (Max Kelley) Payne of Galion and Denice (Gerald) Crowner of Butler; brother-in-law, Jason (Loriane) Payne of San Diego, California; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Events Friends may call Monday from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. A memorial service will be held at Woodville Grace Brethren Church, Mansfield Monday at 5 PM, conducted by Pastor Gene Witzky.
