About	Mansfield native Harvey Earl Bernat, 50, of Palm Coast Fla., died Monday, June 23, 1997, after a long battle with cancer. Born June 6, 1947, he lived in Atlanta, Ga., before his retirement from the Army and then moved to Florida. He was a member of the Lions Club, Moose Lodge of Ormand Beach, Fla., and First Baptist Church of Palm Coast. Surviving are is wife of 27 years, Shirley Bernat; a son and daughter-in-law Ryn and Tesha of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a grandson, four brothers and three sisters-in-law Paul Stuff and Tom and Cindy Bernat, all of Mansfield, John and Anne Bernat of Satellite Beach, Fla, and Gene and Nancy Bernat of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Dan Dickey of Las Vegas, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Liselotte Bernat, and a son, Donald Bernat.
Events	Memorial services were held in Palm Coast on Sunday and in Atlanta on Wednesday. NOTE: Per MNJ, Wednesday, September 27, 1967: In Vietnam, near Long Binh, Specialist Four Harvey has re-enlisted for six years with the Army. Bernat, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bernat of 27 Baldwin Ave., is serving with the Headquarters Company of the II Field Force as a clerk-typist.
