About Me | I sold my motorcycle and traded in my Mustang for a minivan in the eighties, during which time the U.S. Census grew with the expansion of our family tree and the addition of two more wonderful daughters. The two family cats, Ash and Nash, outlasted a 13 year failed marriage, they were great companions for twenty years. I was extended an invitation to attend our 35th reunion with my "first love" of high school...sweet memories. We remain friends. Employment downsizing in 2002 eliminated a job of 29 years with Kato Engineering. I gained employment for an additional 15 plus years with the Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic in 2003. They appreciated my professional experience and skills. Change was a good thing. One week after turning 65, I retired. Welcome to retirement with the new title "Grandma" and role of Grandparent to one granddaughter and twin grandsons born in 2020. A greater share of us have lost a parent, spouse or family member and suddenly we hear a tiny voice that says, " I wonder if I'll even be around in 20 more years?" From 2021 forward every day is a gift of time, especially after the loss of so many loved ones during the COVID19 Pandemic. It is another opportune time to revisit that list of regrets and drop them like rocks in a river - the lost loves, the estranged friends, the lost souls that committed suicide and the opportunities that faded away. Retirement is also an excellent stage in life for rekindling the relationships many have built. For others it may be a new path with a different partner or new friend to share the journey ahead.
