About Rickey John Ferriola Obituary
Rickey John Ferriola, age 67 of Prospect Park, NJ passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

He was born in Paterson on October 8, 1957 to the late Jack Ferriola and Dolores Kirichok and raised in North Haledon. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Janice (nee Kurpick) Ferriola in 1980, they moved to Prospect Park where they raised their family in a warm, loving home.

Rickey worked for Compressed Gas before enjoying a thirty-three year career in the Maintenance Department at Bergen Catholic High School.

A man of deep faith, Rickey was a devoted parishioner of St. Paul’s R.C. Church, where he served as Eucharistic Minister. His spirituality was not only practiced in church but also reflected in his love of nature.
Known by his family as “Nature Boy”, Rickey found joy and peace in the outdoors. Whether tending to his garden, sharing fun facts, or caring for animals, his love for life’s simple wonders was contagious. He loved camping, fishing, spending summers at Wildwood Crest, and had a talent of identifying birds by their song.
Rickey’s knowledge seemed endless. He could speak on nearly any topic with insight and genuine curiosity. But his greatest adoration came through the devotion he showed his family, always putting them first, and being present at every sporting event and dance recital.

His spirit lives on through Janice, his beloved wife of forty-five years, his children, Nicole Ferrara and her husband Mike, Rickey Ferriola and his wife Teela, Jackie Ferriola and her partner CJ Miele; and his grandchildren, Anthony and Gianni Ferrara, Bryce, Ariella, and Chiara Ferriola- each of whom brought him endless joy and laughter.
Rickey will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Jacqueline Panico and her husband Vince, and Nancy Wetklow. He was predeceased by his brother, Vincent Ferriola. He will also be remembered by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Geraldine and James Kurpick, Karen Vivino (Bill), James Kurpick (Susan), John Kurpick (Lisa), Daniel Kurpick (Cathy Corrado), Kevin Kurpick (Ann), and Michael Kurpick.
Events Rickey's family and friends will gather to honor his life at a Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul's R.C. Church, 286 Haledon Avenue, Prospect Park, NJ. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
The family will receive visitors at the church prior to Mass from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
