Daughter of Francis Whitney Ames and Grace Evelyn Maxwell, "Polly" was born October 16, 1928 in Boston, Mass.. and died November 15, 2014 in Houston, Texas.
Surviving are her four sons - Jeffrey, Michael Wesley and Gregory Vela and two daughters - Deborah Kelly and Lizabeth Trimble, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death in 2011 by her husband of 64 years, Oswaldo "Ozzie" Vela.
