About | April 7, 1946 - January 10, 2016 Thomas Paul Damelio, age 69, of West Barnstable, MA, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on January 10, 2016. Tom was a 1964 graduate of Malden High School in Malden, MA and attended Salem State College. Tom started a residential construction business in Schenectady, NY in 1972. After 15 successful years, he relocated his business to Cape Cod in 1987. Tom was a person of great integrity. His reputation as a contractor was impeccable and was well respected throughout the cape. Tom was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law and friend who will continue to be loved and deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to the love of his life, Michele his wife of 44 years, Tom is survived by his two daughters Maria McDonald and her husband Brendan McDonald and Melissa Damelio. "Papa" was also the loving grandfather of Madeline, Peter and Joseph McDonald. Tom was the cherished son of the late Carmine and Maria Damelio. He is survived by his brother Rick Damelio and wife Donna, his sister Lauren Connors and his brother Carl "Chip" Damelio and wife Rosann as well as many nieces and nephews who were loved and inspired by him. Tom was an avid golfer and a long time member of Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds. This passion for golf began as a caddy at Mount Hood Golf course in Melrose as a teenager. He also loved biking and boating. Tom had a special connection to the ocean starting as a young boy. Nothing was more enjoyable to Tom then spending time with family and friends at the beach. His family was his joy. Because of his love of sports, in particular golf, in lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Gary Philbrick Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 838, South Dennis, MA 02660. This scholarship aids aspiring young golfers who wish to have a career in golf. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 8:30am-11am at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601 followed by a 12pm Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St., Centerville, MA 02632.
