Graduation Year Class of 1966
Date of Passing Dec 31, 2012
About Rosemary "Rose" Cummings of Saugus, 64, a retired supervisor for the RMV, died Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Chelsea, MA in 1948, Rose was the daughter of the late Alton “Phil” and Virginia (Sheridan) Rogers. She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High with the Class of 1966. After her marriage to Charles “Chuckie” Cummings, the two moved to Townsend. Tragically, their marriage was short lived as Chuckie passed away suddenly in an automobile accident. She moved back to Malden in 1976, and soon met Stanley Jedrey, who she would share the rest of her life with. Rose had worked at the RMV for many years and had retired as a Clerk Supervisor. She kept herself busy with gardening and enjoyed working with ceramics. She also was active in a bowling league for many years, and enjoyed the occasional night of bingo. It was her grandchildren; however, that brought the most joy to her life.
Rose is survived by her husband Stanley Jedrey of Saugus, her children; Charles W. “Chad” Cummings III of Concord, Kristen L. Casey and her husband Leo of Wesley Chapel, FL, her grandchildren; Samantha Cummings-Raney, Elizabeth Rose, Leo Casey Jr, and Colleen Catherine, and her sister; Lorraine of Malden, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rose was preceded in death by her siblings; Gail Shepard, Dennis Nelson, and Philip Nelson.
Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Parish, 297 Main St. Malden at 9 AM.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rose’s memory may be made to the Dana Faber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
