Christopher Claude served 9 years in the USMC and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant in 2006. He was wounded from an IED blast near Karbala, Iraq on February 20, 2006. He was awarded the purple heart. He has since competed via handcycle in the Marine Corps Marathon in 2008 and came in first place in his division.

I was drafted in 1957 and served as a musician in the Fort Knox Band and the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart, Germany. I played bass tuba and toured with the Orchestra throughout Germany and even at the 1958 World's Fair in Brussels, Belgium. (I extended my service term by 3 months for that experience.)
