About | Joseph Thomas "Tom" Kuhr Sr., 84, of Port Orange, Florida passed away on July 23, 2012 peacefully at home. A Memorial Gathering will be held September 14, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 12 Noon at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Joseph was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. As a teenager he moved to Daytona Beach where he graduated from Mainland High School, Class of 1947. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Stetson University in DeLand. Joseph proudly served as a Sergeant in The United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. After his discharge, Joseph was employed for 40 years as a Salesman/Buyer for Dunn Brothers Hardware store, retiring in 1992. He was a very family oriented man, enjoying family gatherings and picnics, often at Washington Oaks State Park. Joseph will be remembered for his love of college football, especially his beloved Gators. He also enjoyed watching old movies and gardening in his yard. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Juan Kuhr and Lilamarie Raborn-Kuhr and brother Alfred Anton Kuhr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Cecelia Marie Kuhr of Port Orange; three sons Joseph Thomas Kuhr, II of Astor, Jeffrey George Kuhr (Cheryl) of Jacksonville, James Edward Kuhr of Port Orange; two daughters, Deborah Marie Kuhr-Murtola of Navarre and Anita Darlene Kuhr-Koch (Jim) of Port Orange. Joseph was also the loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren; Ryan, Dione, Joey, Erin, Jason, Chad, and Richelle and five great-grandchildren; Cameron, Dominic, Zoey, LilyJade, and Noah.
