George Ruse, 72, died Nov. 4, 2010 in Tampa. Born Jan. 5, 1938 in Daytona Beach, he graduated from Mainland in 1955. He served in the Naval Reserves. George raced hydroplanes at Daytona Beach International Speedway, earned membership in the NASCAR Century Club and won drag racing trophies. He worked in the auto service and paint and body business in Tampa and loved fishing and boating. Survivors include children, Lynn Marie and Travis; brothers, Guy and Fred; sister, Elizabeth; two grandchildren; five nieces and nephews; nine great-nephews. Memorial Mass on Nov. 11 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 North Blvd. in Tampa at 11 a.m.
