About | Pearl Irene Brown Iler (Sissy), 73, Ormond Beach, retired owner of Country Charm Boutique, traded the bonds of earth for the Glory of Heaven the evening of September 1, 2010. Born in Daytona Beach January 15, 1937, Pearl was a lifelong resident of Volusia County, living mostly in Ormond Beach, and attended Tomoka Christian Church. A 1954 graduate of Mainland High School, she was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Earl Sr. (2002) and infant son, John Edward (1965) and is survived by son, Earl Jr. (Lori), Ormond Beach; and daughters, Sunya Harriman (Hugh Merodis), South Daytona, and Michelle Donahue (Michael), Port Orange. The undisputed loves of her life are her six grandchildren, Brittany, Evan, Bethany, Liara, Michael John, and Arianna, in whom she invested the majority of her time, and into whom she imparted her spiritual sense, appreciation for music and education, and deep love of family. Through her thoughtful, loving efforts, she has helped to make them the outstanding young people they are, and her legacy of love will live on through their reflections of beauty, grace, and integrity. Pearl is also survived by her devoted sisters, Mary Alice (Buzzy) Prince, St. Stephens Church, VA, and Dorothy Jane (Dinky) Almond, Port Orange, whom she shared her love and life with as the middle child; as well as scores of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pearl was blessed with John and Valley Smallwood as neighbors for more than 30 years and developed a deep bond with these very special people. She looked forward to her weekly celebrations with the "Tuesday Girls", her close knit group of friends that meant so much to her and filled her life with fun and foolishness. They often made a routine of sharing food, games, and laughter. The Mainland High School "Class of '54" and other surrounding classes benefitted from her determination in keeping them meeting on a regular basis and will miss her dedication and organizational skills. The true fullness of a life this rich, and a legacy this abiding could never be expressed in a paragraph, but must be read as a broad reflection of the dedicated love she shared through the lives she so deeply touched. A Memorial Celebration will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond at 1:00PM, Saturday, September 11, 2010. A private family burial will be held earlier in the week. In loving memory of Pearl memorial donations may be made to the Shands Healthcare, Shands Office of Development, Box 100386, Gainesville, FL 32610. Friends may send condolences to www.LohmanFuneralHomes .com. Arrangements are under the careful supervision of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. |
