About | The Lord received our earthly angel, Lucille Severson, when he abruptly took her home on September 22, 2009. This loving, glorious soul surely brightened the heavens as she passed away quietly surrounded by family and friends. Lucille was born in Jay, Florida to Mary Frances and Vernon Nowling on July 07, 1947. At age seven, her family moved to Daytona Beach, where she graduated from Mainland High School in 1965. In 1969, she married Archie Severson and raised their children with nurturing discipline and unconditional love for the next twenty-seven years. Lucille was the delicate fragrance in the bloom of her children's and grandchildren's lives. She also acted as a mother to many others, sharing her heart freely with everyone she met. In 1989 she became a Surety Agent and worked alongside Clarence Mann as Co-owner of Mann and Severson Bail Bonds for almost thirty years. Lucille's success in life was a tribute to her motivation and determination toward self improvement, qualities she encouraged in others as well. After she divorced, she returned to college at age 52 and received her Associates in Arts degree from DBCC with honors in 1999. During this time, she met the other love of her life, Lamar Solano, and they cherished each other until his untimely passing in 2008. Lucille was a Master Shopper and enjoyed traveling, sewing, writing and painting. More than anything, she and Lamar enjoyed hosting family gatherings with traditional Southern fixin's, passing on traditions and preserving her heritage. Lucille is survived by her blessed children, Alycia (Samuel) Severson-Puckett of Ormond Beach, Vernon Craig Severson of Holly Hill, Wesley (John) Severson of Winter Springs, James Severson of Daytona Beach and stepson, David (Gini) Solano of St. Augustine; her brother, Vernon (Carol) Nowling, Jr. of New Smyrna Beach; her sister, Barbara Mitchum of Jay, Florida; mother-in-law, Rita Pellicer of St. Augustine; grandchildren, Alexis and Ambrosia Severson, Simone and Freeman Puckett, Sean Leonard and Liam Zambrano. Lucille's grace, style, character and devotion are irreplaceable. While her loss leaves so many people absolutely bereft, her life was a true blessing that has filled us with gratitide and joy. Dale Woodward Funeral Home, Holly Hill is in charge. Published in the Daytona Beach News-Journal on 9/27/2009 |
