Thompson was born May 16, 1979, at Madison to Dale and Glenda (Lyren) Thompson. She graduated from Madison High School in 1997 and was currently a junior majoring in education at Dakota State University. She worked part-time at Adventureland Video in Madison. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Tana died from injuries sustained in a car accident near Junius.
Survivors include her parents, Dale and Glenda Thompson of Winfred; a brother, Marty Thompson of Winfred; a sister, Dodi Thompson of Minneapolis, Minn.; and her aunt and uncle, Barbara and John Reichling of Bloomington, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Vera Thompson and Glen Lyren.
