| About Me | Life, liberty and the pursuit of the little white ball ... in the woods, in the drink, in the beach, in the hole! Life After graduating from Lynn English, I briefly attended Lawrence Memorial Hospital School of Nursing which just could not contain my restless and wandering soul. So I joined the Air Force (just for four years and college money) and ended up loving the service so much I stayed for 20 years. Why not? They sent me to school in beautiful Monterey, CA for a year to learn Russian and then to beautiful and sunny Crete, Greece for 2 years. After returning to the states I was stationed at Fort Meade, MD for enough years to finally finish my degree and then went to Officer Candidate School for the Coast Guard. I was fortunate enough during OCS to be able to sail on the Coast Guard Training Barque EAGLE for several weeks. That was a blast!! In the Coast Guard I 've served in Woods Hole, MA; Honolulu, HI; Portland, ME and ended up in Boston at the Military Entrance Processing Station sending the kids off to boot camp. I've got four wonderful children, two are mine and two are my husband's. Okay, he's my third husband. Hey!! I'm the eternal optimist. Seriously, I've finally found the best guy in the universe for me. He doesn't let me get away with anything - that's important because I'm certainly still a handful :) We have a house in Derry, NH, the most significant feature of which is our sports bar in the basement. Yes, we have a kitchen and bedrooms too! We have great parties during the winter there. We have a camp (also in Derry) where we and all of our friends play golf and have fun all summer. I have recently started playing golf and have become obsessed with hitting the little white ball. I shot a 49 for nine the other day after only playing for a couple of months, so I am pretty happy with that. If anyone is still awake at this point, drop me a line. We have a standing party the first week of November every year and would love to see old friends. Update!! We changed our party this year to the 29th of October 2005 because I just accepted a job with a defense contractor to serve in Baghdad, Iraq for the next 6 months. The professional challenge is just to great to pass up. More later :) I'm at Camp Victory South, Baghdad, Iraq working with the Multinational Corps - Iraq. It's pretty fun work, but if I told you about it, I'd have to kill you! HaHa. JK. I'll see if I can upload some pics. See ya! Another Update!! I redeployed back home on 27 May 06 and am working at the Pentagon during the week and flying home for the weekends. Yes, it is not particularly easy, but it is easier than being in Iraq. I don't want to move the family to DC but there aren't many of my kind of jobs in the Boston area. I am thankful for Southwest Airlines - that's for sure! :) Okay - I'm finally home! From Nov 2005 - May 2006 I was in Iraq. I worked in the Pentagon for the Army for a year. Great job, lousy commute! Now I am working for Raytheon in Woburn, MA. They are a really wonderful ...(read more) |
