Boot camp,Great Lakes Illinois. Served as a third class on a destroyer leader U.S.S.wilkinson D.L. 5 and then the Joseph K. Tausic D.E. 1030. Both home ported Newport,Ri. Sailed the Atlantic coast from Halifax N.S. to islands in the caribbean

Served as QMSN to QM2 aboard USS Charles H. Roan DD853 Stationed in Newport, RI. Did a 6 month Med trip where I did Celestial Navigation daily. Was aboard during the Santo Domingo Crisis.
