About Me	Despite my BA degree, my career was in radio broadcasting, primarily the engineering side. There was a period in the latter 70's when I was a teacher, while still working in radio on the side. I taught at Old Fort High School, South Lumberton High School, and South Lumberton Junior High School. My radio career started in 1965 at the BGEA stations, WFGW and WMIT, in Black Mountain. In 1970, I moved to Wilmington and worked as the Chief Engineer of several stations in that area for 19 years. In 1989, I entered the US Foreign Service as an overseas radio engineer for the Voice of America. I served three years in Botswana, Africa, five years on Sao Tome Island, West Africa, and five years in the northeastern region of Greece that we know as Thrace. While posted in Greece, I was promoted to Deputy Station Manager. I returned to the post on Sao Tome Island as the Station Manager. I remained there for another five years.
