| About Me | Ratha May or May. So many different hats, roles, and titles and sometimes all at once: Dr. Mom, military wife, daughter, big sister, supervisor, coworker, cousin, niece, friend, daughter-in-law and etc. I would say that the most important part about me is that I’m a sucker for the bond I share with my family (my husband, daughter, father & siblings and my husband's parents). I’m blessed with our strength, I love to support them anyway I can. I enjoy the spring, flowers, dancing, the beach and being in love. I love to write, research and I’ve been fairly creative since I was a kid (drawing, painting, cooking). I’m a lover that will fight if you push me (and I generally win ;-). I'm a patient person but I don't have time for those who don't have a kind heart or are mean spirited. I love to sing in the shower, waltz in the living room with my hubs and dance around the house with my toddler. I get along with almost anyone, but will pull away from those who are not open or who see things one-way. I'm a career woman, a mom and happily married to the best husband. I’m living my childhood dream of being a licensed psychotherapist and a stay-at-home-mom (yeah it's working for now!). I'm fortunate to have earned10 years experience as a Marriage & Family Therapist; I finished my PhD in Counseling, specializing in Marriage and Family Counseling. All of my life experiences coupled with adjunct teaching and working with children and families helped me gain an appreciation for the power of relationships. Indeed, I am a proud military wife to my handsome prince, who is soon to be Dr. Husband as well as an officer in the United States Air Force. I’m just as much in love with being a mommy to my very impressive little girl who already seems wise beyond her years at the ripe old age of toddler-hood. As a therapist, I believe that a person should be treated as a whole person, that change must be expected in due time, it's fluid and possible even when it's hard to accept. I believe that blame should never be shifted to another person and that regardless of your past, you are the driver of your own destiny. My success in career and family are attributed to God and my parents who taught me faith, love, and more importantly, strength. My beloved late mother has especially taught me strength and she will always be remembered. RIP, Mom we love you and miss you dearly. I'm so lucky to all those who expressed their condolences, it touched me to know that I have so many friends and family who care -- thank you. Currently involved in writing childrens' therapy books, the PhD Military Spouses Group and being the best mother and wife. My goal is to teach weekends at the college level and possible fee-for-service clients, since I enjoy being home with my little one.
