About Me After being lost in college for two years and not being able to find my way, I joined the US Navy and went to boot camp in Orlando, Florida on May 28, 1991. After boot camp, I went to my first two schools in the Nuclear Power pipeline. My first school taught me the basics of being an Electronics Technician, and the second school gave me a background in Nuclear Power. In late 1992 I transferred to Ballston Spa NY to get six months of hand-on training on a nuclear power plant and become certified on Nuclear Reactors. July 1993 I reported to the USS MONTPELIER (SSN-765), a Los Angeles class attack submarine. During my time on board, we made two Mediterranean deployments with one trip to the Arabian Gulf on the second deployment. In February 1998 I returned to upstate NY to become an instructor at the nuclear prototype I had previously attended. (MARF) July 2001 I reported to the USS KEY WEST (SSN-722) and immediately set off on a Western Pacific Deployment. On September 9th, we had left Singapore on our way to the Arabian Gulf yet again. During the transit we got world of the World Trade Center incident and were immediately directed to our new station for counterattack. We were the first boat on station, and were participants in the bombing. On September 16th, 2002 I was advance to the rank of Electronics Technician Chief (E7). October 2002 I transferred to the USS CHICAGO (SSN-721) and once again immediately left for a Western Pacific deployment. February 2005 I reported back to the MARF prototype for my second instructor tour. In March of 2008 I have reported to what will most likely be my last ship, the USS SCRANTON (SSN-756). This is my fourth LA Class submarine. How fitting tha...(read more)
