I joined the Air Force in January 1966 in the "Delayed Entry Program" & became "Active" in April 1966. I served in the Supply Department at Paine Field, Washington from June 1966 - July 1968, then was stationed at Tachikawa Air Base in Japan from July 1968 thru March 1970 when I got an "Early Out" to attend College at Seattle University.

Enlisted February 1963. Eight weeks basic training Ft Ord, CA. Eight weeks AIT Ft Sill, OK. Five days Ft. Dix, NJ waiting for "my ship to come in" then ten days across the Atlantic. Ten months B Btry 1st How Bn 36th and 83rd Field Artillery Regiments, Dolan Barracks, Schwabish Hall, Germany. Twenty-one months Hq and Hq Btry, Seventh Corps Artillery, Kelley Barracks, Stutgartt, Germany. Ten days back across the North Atlantic in January ... urp! Discharged January 1966.

Joined in November 1961, after graduation with Kit and Mike Pingree. Basic training @Lackland AFB Texas, Firefighting School in Greenville,Mississippi, stationed in Bovington, England, Weisbaden Germany and finished my 4 years at Hamilton AFB, Marin Co. Discharged November 5, 1965. Worked for Eastman Kodak in Palo Alto for one year and joined the Palo Alto Fire Dept in December of 1966.

Commissioned 2nd Lt Armor, assigned to Fort Knox Armor Training Center as Training Officer, Confidence Course and CBR training. 1969.
Assigned to Target Mission Force in Chu Li, Vietnam, Americal Division, 23rd Infantry Division (S2/S4); as 1st Lt. in Da Nang, commanding 186 Division TMF, credited with 26 air combat missions in OV-10 broncos; awarded Bronze Star, Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign medals, two overseas service bars. 1970. Relieved from active duty in 1972.

Served in conflict areas to include the Cold War, Panama, El Salvador, Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Kuwait & Afghanistan. Earned the Air Medal for performing rescues during Hurricane Katrina. Stationed in: Orlando Mayport and Pensacola, FL, Millington TN, Willow Grove, PA, Moffett Field & Pt. Mugu CA, Sigonella, Italy, Kaneohe Bay, HI, and Great Lakes, IL.
