About Me Romanticist, walks in park. Like music -- popular, rhythm blues, Motown, country, lite jazz. Some running + short out of town race + explore. Enjoy romantic comedy, action, period. Affectionate, good listener.Enjoy sharing what life has to offer. I've had a quite an eventful life and met many fascinating and special people. Though I have had a history with some very dire and sad times, for the most part I have been very fortunate and wouldn't want to trade places with anyone. I have had several love interests and 2 marriages and each one of the women in my life have been very special people. I count my blessings for having met them and shared a part in their lives. I am coming off of a recent separation (03/2009) and divorce (12/2009) from someone who was the most special person in my life whom I took or granted for many years as her love for me gradually diminished until our marriage was a shell of what had existed before. Every catastrophe or failure in life comes with a valuable lesson and one hopes that the next time around lessons learned will result in more harmonious and lasting relationships. . Make sure to keep the home fires burning and when thing seem off discuss why they got that way and what can be done to make things better again. Talking is so very important when things don't feel right and yet so few people do it until it is too late. I wouldn't change my life in terms of the people I chose to be with but I certainly would change the way I interacted with them. I am a romantic and I will not wait for a special occasion to bring flowers or candy to someone I care for. That is still not as good as talking about the relationship and how it can improve and how sharing a life together can be so much more rewarding for both mates. When I love someone it is forever. If she does things to disappoint me or hurt me it can't extinguish that love. I still love my first wife as well as my 2nd and as also anyone whom I have loved to a lesser degree. When I go, they all go with me. While I am here, they are here, with me in my heart and many times in my thoughts. I often wonder how someone I was close to is now doing but remain out of contact in respect to their new relationship or family. It is difficult for me to conceive of spending happy times and special moments with someone and not always hold them dear. I have 4 wonderful children from my second wife and I could never thank her enough or be more proud of each of them. Each one is so special in his or her own way. My ex wife is also responsible for indirectly saving my life. When she told me she was divorcing me I realized that I would be without health insurance as i was covered under her employer's plan. I had not had a physical examination since 1993. I had no discomfort or symptoms of anything wrong but I decided to get get a complete physical examination before the insurance lapse. The results of the physical exam were that I had severe blockage in 2 areas of an artery(90-95% + 85%). In Aug of 2009 I had 2 stents implanted at Mt Sinai Hosp. I had been running and had no symptoms like shortness of breath or fatigue so I was surprised. I was also diagnose with aggressive prostate cancer and on Feb 12,2010 I had a laproscopic radical prostatectomy at Sloan Kettering. Fortunately the pathology report showed that the cancer had stayed within the walls of the prostate and to this day I am cancer free and back to running though not as well as before the surgeries. There was an incident during prostate biopsy with original urologist affiliated with Lutheran Medical Center. During biopsy an artery was punctured. Pressure was applied with 4"x4" sponges for about 5 minutes until bleeding stopped. The next morning I was discharged from Lutheran and that night (Nov 24,2009) I had GI bleeding and was ambulanced to Lutheran and almost died on the way. When i arrived at emergency room I was given a blood transfusion and stabilized. Next day same thing occurred and this happened 5 times while in hospital. Each time i would have massive GI bleeding of bleeding and would then receive blood transfusions until stabilized.I almost died in hospital during 2nd episode when no one responded as I pressed emergency buzzer or calling out for help as I got weaker by the moment from blood loss. Fortunately, my cardiologist decided to stop in and see me before leaving hospital. She walked and saw what was happening and rushed out and brought in assistance to stabilize me after close call. Sometimes cure is worse than the disease they say. I had 12 units of blood before a colon surgeon came in on Thanksgiving Day at 6PM to suture the punctured artery. I remained there until Dec. 3rd. all because of a misdirected needle. If Kathi wasn't going to divorce me then would not have gotten a physical and the prostate cancer would have metastasized to lymph nodes etc and would not have survived the cancer.. So Kathi indirectly saves my life with divorce warning. What a woman. I hope this isn't too much info but it does say Bio and it really is a very abbreviated one at that.Anyway, I just ran the Devil's Chase 6.66 mile race in Salem,Mass. on Halloween Day and did it in 68 minutes flat which means I am coming back strong and things are looking better all the the time. When I was 35 I ran a half marathon in 89 minutes and change (about a 6:50 oer mile pace) and the marathon in 3hr 20min 44sec(about a 7:40 per mile pace) so I have along way to go. As I said I am a Romanticist and love and appreciate natural and man made beauty. Central park is a favorite place of mine and I enjoy driving to not too distant towns as a form of exploration. I mix it up with running a 5k race at the town and staying the weekend. that's how I found Ocean Grove ,NJ one of my favorite places. All the adjacent towns up and down the Jersey Shore have their own 5k races and I try to run several of them and stay in Ocean Grove. I enjoy romantic comedies as well as action and period pieces and enjoy listening to classical music on occasion. I mostly listen to oldies from '50s-'80s. I like Motown, R+B, lite jazz, some country+pop. I enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life and it's great to be alive. I am overweight and hope to get back to a not only respectable but desirous form by the mid-summer of 2011. If your looking for advice or just another opinion, ask me. I've made so many mistakes in life I have a vast knowledge to show from it. If you're lookin...(read more)
