Robert Pearson
Class of 1969
Army, 20+ Years
Drafted in 1970, but joined to be able to get a different job, something other than a grunt. Got the MOS of 16F20 (see attached photo, taken in February 1970) which was a Light Arty crewman serving on either an M42 Duster, with twin 40mm canons. After Vietnam, I changed jobs to become a crewman on the M60A1 tank. Discovered that tankers tend to live in the field, way too much than what i wanted to do...when someone mentions "the field" its sort of camping out military style and you don't get to take your family. Moved to Germany and long story short, ended up living in Germany and stayed after retirement in 1991. Shortly after retirement I was picked up as a GS-5, Department of the Army Civilian (DAC) working as a training instructor. Two years later I changed jobs as a security officer a GS-09 pay grade, promoted with another job change as a GS-11 Deputy Provost Marshal (DPM). Then promoted to GS-12 but continued on as the DPM. Then in May 2007 I due to base realignment my job moved to Schweinfurt, Germany where I became the garrison anti-terrorism officer. Then due to base closure I decided to take early retirement in January 2008. Since then I have enjoyed being with my family, grandkids when they come to visit and attending dog shows and taking care of my clan of dachshunds. Visit our website at www.dashingdackels.com
