About Me | FROM FAMILY TREE INFORMATION John enlisted in the US Army on June 26th, 1959 at Newark (Essex), NJ. He took basic training with "I" company 3rd training regiment at Fort Dix NJ and then stationed at Battery "C", 7th artillery battalion, 52nd brigade, 80th group, Livingston (Morris), NJ. John was honorable discharged June 25th, 1962,. He made 5 trips to Fort Bliss, Texas to fire Nike air defense missiles. John became involved with computers, both analog and digital, as part of his service in the air defense system. On leaving the service he returned to 400 W 15th street until marriage. Dorothe Adele Mc Ginnity and John were married at St Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Fair Lawn (Bergen), New Jersey by his uncle Father Raymond Lukenda in 1963. They moved to an apartment at 302 High Street Fair Lawn (Bergen), NJ USA. In November 1970, after the birth of their son, John Peter 3rd, on August 12th, 1970, they bought a house and moved to 7 Brighton Place Fair Lawn (Bergen), New Jersey. Jobs after the US Army include 1962-1964, Lockheed Electronics in both Plainfield (Union), NJ and Metuchen (), NJ; 1964-1966, owned his own business in Heating, Ventilating and Air conditioning in Bergen county NJ; 1966-1979, worked for Honeywell, Inc. except for 1968-1969. With Honeywell, John started as a service tech and was promoted to Service Sales both in Union (Union), NJ and Springfield (Union), NJ After John divorced Dorothe in 1972, he moved to 502 West Avenue Garwood, (Union), New Jersey. This divorce was a no fault divorce. At the time, the State of New Jersey allowed a no fault divorce after a two year separation. Honeywell again promoted John this time to Service Manager in Long Island City (Queens), NY. John met Darlene while both were working for Honeywell. Their first date was on election day November 1972. They went to the Playboy club in Great Gorge (), New Jersey. Darlene Marie Drummond and John were married in Garwood (Union), NJ on March 28th, 1976. Three days later, they moved to Barcelona St in Corpus Christi (Nueces), Texas as John was transferred by Honeywell to Corpus Christi (Nueces), Texas. John purchase is first personal computer (PC). It was a Radio Shack (Tandy) TRS 80 Mod1. In 1977, they bought a new house at 8850 Thatch Drive San Antonio (Bexar), Texas. John left Honeywell in January 1979 and took 15 months off. Their son, Christopher Michael, was born in December 25th 1979 at 6:01 PM. John went to work for Jim Tsakopulos CPA as manager of computer services on April 1, 1980. While working for Jim Tsakopolus, John concentrated in changing client from manual accounting records to computerized records. He started UTSA in 1979 and finished in May 1982. John completed college by going nights and summers and challenging 33 hours and passing 30. John was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on Friday August 13th, 1982. He said it was one of the best times of his life, "I have MS, it's not going to kill me and it is not cancer, tumor on the brain or spine, nor am going insane." In May 1983, he took and passed the CPA exam and obtained Texas CPA License #031952. John stayed with Jim until 1985. From 1985-1990 he was Chief Financial Officer for North Americans Towns and North American Towns of Texas head quartered in the Kroger Center in San Antonio (Bexar), TX. In February 1985, John and Darlene bought a bigger house on 8315 Ridge Terrace San Antonio (Bexar), TX. In 1986, John started JPB Properties with wife Darlene M Drummond. Steven Michael, their son, was born on October 12th, 1987. In 1990, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) exacerbated and John was medically disabled. After Darlene divorced John in 1991, he moved to 7820 Woodchase #1514 San Antonio (Bexar), Texas. The final decree of divorce was issued on July 31th, 1991. From 1993 to 1998, John volunteered at Health South RIOSA and from 1990 to 20??, he volunteered at Northminster Presbyterian Church, both places are in San Antonio. The volunteer work at both RIOSA and Northminster, was computerizing the entire record keeping, including other volunteer hours, payroll, billing, collections, children information and General Ledger. John was a Committee person for two years with his son Christopher's Boy Scout Troop in San Antonio and Charter Organization Representative for Cub Scout Pack 945 in San Antonio. Northminster Presbyterian Church, where John is a member, sponsors Pack 945. On July 17th, 1999, John injured his neck when the electric cart he used, walking was difficult to impossible because of his MS, flipped over on him. He spent 89 days, until October 15th, 1999, in the Audie L Murphy V A hospital in San Antonio, TX . During 200 thru 2003, John added volunteering at th VA hospital. John spent from 2002 to September 2003 in his chair unable get up out of his wheelchair or even stand. In September 2003, John's neck was operated on again at Audie L Murphy V A hospital in San Antonio, TX removing the disk beween C4 and C5. After the surgery, John still could not get up out of his wheelchair or even stand and had to learn to walk again. By May of 2006, John was walking with a cane and handrail 150 feet with "Stand By Assist (SBA)". John still volunteers at Northminster Presbyterian Church five days per week.
