About Me | Retired in Ecuador: Hey all, I'm having a bit of a struggle believing that it was close to 50 years ago that we stumbled around the boys gym exchanging yearbooks with each other, writing comments about our relationships!! Honestly, it seems no more than 15 years, (20 years maximum) since those warm spring nights. Lots of water has passed under the bridge (or paint on the Antelope park bridge) for each of us. Many turns along the straight and narrow, long and winding road, or that crooked old mile, to where we are currently in our lives. Truthfully, my path has been filled with experiences that have run the gauntlet that only 50 years can hold. Luckily my life-style has allowed me to enjoy the journey and when walking that crooked old mile and upon seeing that crooked old fence I can still climb over it, with a crooked old smile and continue on to the next adventure awaiting on my journey. The disappointing thing is that I do not believe I will be able to journey to Lincoln for the reunion. I'm currently residing In Paute, Ecuador, S.A. (Google it if your are curious). I find myself returning to the USA once a year, to visit my sister during the Christmas Holiday season. On the positive side I do have plenty of room in my house for any adventurous traveling Knights, in the style of: (Don Quixote's, Huck Finn's, Isabella Bird's, Polly Letofsky's). Don't let the next 50 years slip away without traveling to Ecuador. Pack your bag and grab a water bottle. Come on down and visit me In Ecuador!!! It's a retiree's dream....!!! Don Quixote de la Mancha: * "The story follows the adventures of an hidalgo named Mr. Alonso Quixano who reads so many chivalric romances that he loses his sanity and decides to set out to revive chivalry, undo wrongs, and bring justice to the world, under the name Don Quixote de la Mancha. He recruits a simple farmer, Sancho Panza, as his squire, who often employs a unique, earthy wit in dealing with Don Quixote's rhetorical orations on antiquated knighthood.. Don Quixote, in the first part of the book, does not see the world for what it is and prefers to imagine that he is living out a knightly story. Throughout the novel, Cervantes uses such literary techniques as realism, metatheatre, and intertextuality. It had a major influence on the literary community, as evidenced by direct references in Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers (1844), Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn ...(read more) |
