About Me | I am retired from public education and regret having too little of an effect on some of our youth. It is a very difficult job BUT the legislators governing our schools refuse to do it right. We need to educate those kids who want to be educated and with those that refuse to participate find something they do and can contribute that to society. Trying to put all kids in the same category has never beent the way to go BUT it is a much different world today. Going to college is not everyones dream. Going to college No.1 does not guarantee a job . Our country was founded on hard work and discipline. We have gotten away from both of those ideals in the last 35 years. We need to allow our kids to be themselves. If that means a degree of some kind great. But our needs are not all geared for degreed people. Yes, certifications are necessary these days and thats OK. I want my car to be worked on the person who demonstrated that their trained to do that. The same for my plumber, my electrician and so on. The time to change our edcational system is WAY over due. Where is the courage to do that going to come from? It will only happen when our parents demand that their students needs are being met AND realize too that it's OK not to go to college...I have had a a15.5 year experience in public education and the prediction for REAL change is bleak. Our legislators just want to be rel-elected therefore they are NOT going to work for the benefit of everyone. If they did that they would porbably NOT receive the votes they need to return to the Senate/Congress. I want to wish all of those young teachers out there the VERY BEST. I wish there were folks out there who were operating in your best interests. But as long as the people making those decisions, who have never been in the trenches, continue to steer the ship...it's gonna be a cluster. I attempt to adapt and move forward BUT some things are what they are. Love to kid around and keep the situation light hearted. DO NOT like controversy.....or drama.....have the tendency to have little patience with issues where people want to argue "their side of the story".....but the issue is cut and dried by policy or regulations. I so not like "me/I" people. It's more than just about one's self. I dislike the it does NOT' apply to me people. (see prior comment) Why set a deadline if it means you'll make adjustments for someone who has poor planning OR worse a bad excuse. Adults who want to champion their kids poor decisions need to...(read more) |
