I went to Vietnam in 1968 - 1969. I was a door gunner on helicopters. I was going to stay in the Army, but at that the war had put a bad taste in my mouth and I just wanted yo get away from it all.

Officer Training School, Lackland AFB, Texas, 1960.
Basic Navigator Training School, Harlingen, Texas 1961
Electronic Warfare Officer's School, Mather AFB, California,1962.
B-52 Combat Crew Training, Castle AFB, California, 1963.
1st Operational assignment, Larson AFB, Washington, 1963.
Deployed to Anderson AFB, Guam under the "Arc Light" program, 1967-68; Flew 101 Combat Missions (804 hours); Awarded the Air Medal (5 times).
After 2800 hours in the B-52, I was subsequently, assigned to the AC-130 Gunship Instructor Program at Hurlburt AFB, Eglin AFB Florida where I flew another 2600 hours.
Retired after 23 years of service.
