| Favorite School Memory | Unfortunately, my fondest memory of Letchworth is leaving it after the ninth grade - to many disciplinary problems. I graduated from Delevan-Machias Central School about twenty miles away. It was a small and very conservative school. What success I have had in life I pretty much owe to my family"s move to Machias and a change of schools. It took about three days at DMCS to be cured of my surly attitude. | About Me | I graduated from Delevan-Machias Central School and then received a Bachelor's and Master's in engineering from Cornell University. I worked for John Deere for a short period and then entered the Army as an ROTC officer in 1969. I served a little over four years in the U.S., Vietnam and Germany. I studied education at Geneseo State for a year and then joined the Peace Corps where I served two years in Morroco as an irrigation engineer. I then joined the U.S. Foreign Service and worked in foreign aid (USAID) in the State Department for 20 years, mostly overseas in Aftrica and the Middle East. I married a Filipina when I was in my mid-thirties. We have two children. After retiring, my wife and I moved to the Philippines for three years where we adopted an elementary-aged girl.
