John "Speedy" Miller
Class of 1989
Army, 15 Years
In a recent ceremony at Fort Sam Houston Texas, John M. Miller, a 1989 graduate of Lemon Bay High School, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. John, better known as locally as “Speedy”, was commissioned in 1991 after graduating from Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama, as a Distinguished Military Student. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Stetson University in Deland, Florida prior to entering Active Duty as a Medical Service Corps Officer in 1993. John has held numerous positions within the Army and deployed in 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and now serves as the Director of Patient Administration Systems and Biostatistics Activity at Fort Sam Houston. John also earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management and Master of Science in Health Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004 and is a Registered Health Information Administrator.
