| About Me | I have lived in Washington, primarily in Pierce County, either going to college, raising a family and creating my home in the mainland. I've traveled everywhere around the state when my daughter was active in premier level soccer. She is now a school psychologist with the Seattle School District. She is engaged to be married next July 2011. After college I began working in the Puyallup School District, then onto Clover Park (Lakewood) and then Tacoma School District as a teacher at the junior high and high school. Through much mentorship I went back to get my master's and principal's credential and then became a principal at the secondary and elementary schools in Tacoma. There are many current principals in the field that were my interns in administration or those I coached. I am now retired and working for the State Department of Education's Office with schools struggling on improving their academic performance. I do training and coaching around instruction and student learning. These last seven years have been very fulfilling for me as I have watched their schools make it happen for all their children. With retirement comes the opportunity to pretty much set my schedule and do anything my heart desires. Traveling everywhere has been an amazing dream (Italy, England, Indonesia, Mexico, Caribbean, Hawaii, Canada, and all parts of the mainland). Since retirement I am finding many new hobbies and interests. Right now, gardening and landscaping has been fun on my acre and a half of land in rural Gig Harbor. I watch the sunsets and bays from a distance. I spend lots of time with my daughter who lives in Seattle and take long walks with my dog. I use to run regularly in my younger years at a variety of races. Now that I'm older I'm trying to get back into shape, lose a few pounds and see where it leads me. I'm thinking of taking up running again and some woodworking and sewing projects this winter. My goal is also to produce a family cookbook for all the nieces and nephews of th...(read more) |
