About Obituary
Diane Elizabeth (Blomgren) Sather died peacefully, surrounded by family on December 20, 2021 after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Born July 16, 1956, youngest child of Bettee Elouise (Breckenridge) Blomgren and Col. Holton Eugene Blomgren, Diane spent her growing years in various locals including Thailand, Alexandria, VA, and Indianapolis, IN where she was graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1974. Diane studied at DePauw University and, later, at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) where she received a degree in Dental Hygiene. While in college, she was an active member of Alpha Phi sorority.

Employed as a dental hygienist in the periodontal disease unit at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Diane then accepted a position in Davos Platz, Graubunden, Switzerland. Upon returning to the States, she returned to the Mayo Clinic. During a Utah ski trip, she met Robert Paul Sather of McGregor, MN, and they were married in 1989. After many years in the field of dental health care, Diane pursued a career as a flight attendant, traveling the world with United Airlines, from which she received many accolades and awards. Her multilingual talents (French and Swiss-German) served her well in this field.

A natural athlete, Diane excelled in every athletic challenge at her very first attempt. She was an accomplished equestrian from the age of four, a competitive swimmer and was an outstanding member of her college swim team. Her athletic abilities were also evident in her accomplishments on some of the most challenging ski slopes in Switzerland and the U.S. Diane’s love of sports also found expression in her enthusiastic support of the University of Georgia Bulldogs and the Minnesota Vikings.

An excellent cook and gracious hostess, Diane enjoyed entertaining. She was fun-loving, thoughtful and generous, and enjoyed the company of her many friends. A lover of all animals and nature, she treasured the companionship of numerous pets throughout her life.

Diane is survived by her husband, Robert P. Sather, siblings, Peter F. Blomgren, Donna B. Askren (Ralph), Philip M. Blomgren (Diane Sargent), siblings-in-law, Rebecca Blomgren, Curtis Sather (Diane), Lee Sather (Kim), Linda Vanslyke (Gary) and many nieces and nephews.

Independent, stoic, and courageous, Diane will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.

A Service of Remembrance will be Saturday, June 11, at 11 AM in Grace Lutheran Church, McGregor with Scott Stinson officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diane’s memory to an animal charity of one’s choosing or to the American Cancer Society. To sign the guestbook online, go to: www.srtfuneral.com. Arrangements are with McGregor Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor.
