Command Sergeant Major Martin D. Kelley
1-66 Armor Regiment Command Sergeant Major, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4ID
CSM Martin D. Kelley entered the United States Army in October1986 and completed One Station Unit Training as an Armored Reconnaissance Specialist at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
His stateside assignments include tours with 3-17th Cavalry at Fort Drum, New York; 2d Armored Division, and III Corps NCO Academy, Fort Hood, Texas; 5-15th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Knox, Kentucky; 1-10 Cavalry, 4th Infantry, Division, Fort Hood, Texas; and 2-9 Cavalry, 3d BCT, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO. His overseas assignments include 3d Squadron, 11th ACR, Badhersfeld, Germany, 1st Squadron 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Buedigen, Germany. His combat tours include one tour to Bosnia from December 1995 to 1996, OIF I, OIF V and OIF VIII.
CSM Kelley has attended various military schools to include the French Mountaineering Course, PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, Sergeants Major Academy (class 58), Master Fitness Course, Air Assault Course, and the Drill Sergeant Course. He holds A Bachelor Degree in Science from Excelsior University and is 9 credits shy of his Masters Degree in Education from North Central University.
CSM Kelley has served in numerous leadership and staff positions in the Cavalry and Armor Fields including Bradley Commander, Section Sergeant, PLDC Instructor, Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major and CSM for 2-9 Cavalry, 3d Brigade Combat Team, Operations Sergeant Major and CSM for 1-10 Cavalry, 2d Brigade Combat Team. His most recent assignment is the Command Sergeant Major for 1-66 Armor, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, 2 OLC; the Meritorious Service Medal, 3rd OLC; the Army Commendation Medal with V Device and 3 OLC; the Army Achievement Medal 9 OCL, the Good Conduct Medal 7th Award, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with 4 stars, the NATO Service Medal, Drill Sergeant Badge, Air Assault Badge, German Marksmanship (Gold) and the Combat Action Badge. CSM Kelley is also a recipient of the Armor Association’s Honorable Order of Saint George.
