Bent County High School - Community Center Project

We at the Bent County Preservation Society have been working with the Colorado State HIstorical Society to preserve the old high school buildings and to convert them into a community center to provide social services and provide space for local governmental service agencies.
The project is moving along and the School District, County and City have entered into an intergovernmental agreement for joint use of the 1939 annex building with offices, gymnasium, stage and locker rooms. They will move in this fall. Grants have been lined up for 4 more years to fund improvements to the 1939 building and then to provide environmental cleanup of the old 1914 building and then develop uses for it. If all goes well, in 4 years, both buldings (and the old Ag building) will be renovated and in use for the community.

1968 Grad earns Doctorate degr

Sherry Kastl-Jones earned a doctorate degree in Educational Administration in August 2007 and is currently the CEO of a private special education company in Phoenix, AZ.
