Not until the 50 year anniversary rolled around had I looked back on Abbott junior high and Larkin high and the wonderful people I had known. I have two fond memories of Don. One New Year's Eve he invited me to his brother's home to celebrate the New Year. But what really stands out was when Don opened my glove box --- where I kept my 8-tracks; he exclaimed "Neil, ohhh, Neil Diamond, not Neil Young." I did and still do enjoy both Neils. But for a moment I revealed just how uncool I was.
