What is Riff Raff known for?

Known by the stage name Riff Raff, Horst Christian Simco was born on January 29, 1982, in Katy, Texas, a suburb of Houston. During his early life, his family faced various challenges, including coping with his father's post-traumatic stress disorder from the Vietnam War and a subsequent diagnosis of tonsil cancer. After his parents divorced, Riff Raff and his siblings were often moved between Duluth, Minnesota, where their father sought a cooler environment for his health, and Houston, where their mother stayed. Riff Raff was the second of four siblings and grew up in Copperfield, a suburb 25 miles northwest of Houston.

During high school, Riff Raff was known for his love of basketball, a passion that saw him play as a shooting guard on the basketball team of Langham Creek High School. However, he dropped out during his senior year, later completing his General Education Development (GED).

Riff Raff's music career began in 2005 and has seen him make significant strides in the industry. He has shown his versatility by dabbling in different genres, including hip hop, trap, and electronic dance music (EDM). Notably, he was part of the hip hop group, Three Loco, alongside Andy Milonakis and Dirt Nasty.

His career has also been characterized by several record label signings. He was initially managed by Swishahouse co-founder OG Ron C in 2011, then signed with rapper Soulja Boy's record label Stacks on Deck Entertainment, before moving on to Diplo's Mad Decent. At Mad Decent, Riff Raff released his debut album "Neon Icon" in 2014, which was met with a mix of critical and commercial responses. Later, in 2016, he released "Peach Panther" through Warner Records.

Off-stage, Riff Raff has made entrepreneurial moves. He announced a joint partnership with Stampede Management and BMG, signing a four-million-dollar artist venture agreement for his label and production company. Despite some legal disputes, Riff Raff continues to be a force in the music industry.
